Cartmel is the home of Sticky Toffee. It’s something we’re very proud of, as we are of our 12th century Priory and the racecourse which runs straight past the Village Shop. That’s where Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding was born – we started baking in the shop’s back kitchen and selling it in the front 20 years ago. Word soon got out and everyone wanted some, so we had to move the kitchen, but it’s still handmade, and there’s still nothing to match it. That’s why Cartmel is the home of Sticky Toffee.

how to cook

The best way to heat up our handmade Sticky Toffee Pudding is in a proper oven. Take off the sleeve and lid, and pop in a pre-heated oven (190ºC, gas mark 5) for 10-12 minutes. Or if you really can’t wait, then just pop it in the microwave. Put the pud on a dish and heat on high for 40 seconds (cat D/750w). Serve while it’s warm, sticky, and the sauce is nice and dribbly.
