SUGGESTED ITINERARY FOR COMPETITION WINNER
Day 1
- Arrive in Cartmel at the Cartmel Village Shop – taken to Wall Nook and check in (Cartmel Village Shop will have provided a hamper for arrival)
- Dinner at Aynsome Manor Country House Hotel and enjoy fabulous service, just a stone’s throw from your wonderful accommodation
Day 2
- Morning coffee at Haverthwaite Station
- Steam Train Ride from Haverthwaite to Lakeside – a steam locomotive will haul the historic, but wonderfully maintained carriages, through the undulating Leven Valley down to the Victorian Pier at Lakeside, where you will join one of the majestic steamers for a sail on Windermere, to the Lakeland village of Bowness. Windermere is the largest of Englands’ Lakes and is renowned for its dramatic and unspoilt scenery. You will pass some splendid Lakeshore properties with views of the stunning Langdale Mountains.
- Visit the World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness on Windermere – meet Mrs Tiggy Winkle in her kitchen, Jemima Puddleduck in her woodland glade and of course, no visit to the exhibition would be complete without seeing Peter Rabbit in Mr Mcgregor’s garden!
- Return Boat Trip from Lakeside to Bowness – coffee/tea on the boat
- Return train trip to Haverthwaite
Day 3
- Visit the new World Class visitor attraction at the The Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow. Home to thousands of motoring related exhibits, many, reminiscent rarities and it is of course home to the legendary Campbell Bluebird exhibition.
- Lunch at The Lakeland Motor Museum
Day 4
- Discover the beautiful Market Town of Ulverston (Thursday is Market Day) and visit the new Laurel and Hardy Museum or visit the South Lakes Animal Park at Dalton where you can have a hands on experience at feeding time, or you could even adopt and animal!
- Dinner at L’enclume, the award winning Michelin starred restaurant or its sister restaurant and wine-bar, Rogan’s.
Day 5
- Visit the home of Lord and Lady Cavendish at Holker Hall, one of Britain’s best loved stately homes, then meander through the magnificent gardens and treat yourself to a unique gift to take back home.
- Enjoy dinner at the Cavendish Arms in Cartmel
Day 6
- Take a trip round Cartmel with the beautiful Fresian Black Horses, some of the finest examples of their breed, in a wonderful carriage, with a Cartmel Village Shop picnic.
Day 7
- Enjoy a half day tour with Mountain Goat tours – perhaps to Grasmere and Dove Cottage the home of William Wordworth and his sister Dorothy. See where he got his inspiration for some Britain’s best loved poetry. Or perhaps over the hair-raising passes to the Western Lake District.
Day 8
- Visit the stunning medieval Cartmel Priory and local shops, selling everything from wooden toys to clothes to delicious chocolates.
- Stop for Morning Coffee/Afternoon Tea in one of the local tea rooms.
- Go down to the Cartmel Village Shop, the Village Sweet and the Village Gift Shop to make up your goodie bag for setting off for your destination.

1. Entry is based on completing the form at http://www.cartmelvillageshop.co.uk/win-prizes/trip-to-cartmel
2. Only one entry per person will be accepted.
3. There is no cash alternative.
4. The draw is open to UK residents aged 18 or over, excluding employees or agents of Cartmel
5. The draw closes at 11.59pm on 31st December 2009.
6. The winner will be selected at random, under independent supervision and notified by email within seven days.
7. The prize is for four people (4 adults or 2 adults, 2 children) and includes:
- 7 days self-catered accommodation at Wall Nook Holiday Cottage
- Cartmel Village Shop hamper on arrival
- Dinner at Aynsome Manor Country House Hotel
- Morning coffee at Haverthwaite Station
- Steam Train Ride from Haverthwaite to Lakeside on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway
- A visit to The World of Beatrix Potter
- Return Boat Trip from Lakeside to Bowness – coffee/tea on the boat

8. Only tickets and visits listed above are included, all other costs including personal expenses, drinks, other meals, adequate travel insurance, travel to and from Cartmel or during the stay is not included and will be responsibility of the winners and their guests. Conducting the suggested tour by Public transport is possible but time consuming and potentially unreliable. The prize winner is advised to bring their own car or hire a car for the holiday. Any related costs are not included.
9. The holiday must be taken between the 1st Feb 2010 and the 30th June 2010 and all accommodation, restaurants and attractions will be subject to availability.
10. Lunches and dinners provided include the price of three courses for four people, excluding drinks.
11. We'd love to be able to tell people who has won and may ask for you to let us use your name in our publicity materials, but would only do so with your consent.
12. The winner’s name and county can be requested in writing from Cartmel (see address below) after the closing date
13. There is no cash alternative to the prize and the Promoter is not responsible for any loss, inconvenience, injury or damage resulting from participation in the prize.
